As a designer I focus on bridal, women’s
business wear, and textile prints. I am heavily influenced and inspired by
vintage clothing and costumes; I have been fascinated with fashion history for
as long as I can remember.
When I began my education in fashion
design I originally intended to pursue bridal design and I still dream of
opening a bridal boutique in the future. However, recently I have developed an
interest in the history of undergarments as well as a passion for vintage
lingerie design. I was thrilled at the opportunity to complete an internship
with Dollhouse Bettie, a vintage lingerie shop in San Francisco. Through my
development as a designer I have also learned that many of my designs fit into
the category of women's office wear. I love a chic, professional look, and have
broadened my repertoire to accommodate my love for a variety of design
categories.
Regarding my practical skills, I am
adept at pattern making and I have experience in sample sewing. My strengths
include prints and textile design; I am particularly
fluent in Illustrator and competent in both Photoshop and Ned Graphics. I have experience in the
beauty/cosmetics industry, and have participated in fashion shows both as a
stylist and designer. I have made costumes for a number of plays and
productions. I would love to further discuss my abilities, interests and
experience, and can easily be reached at KaitlinHeckert@gmail.com
